The Seniors Foundation is a charitable foundation focused on enhancing the lives of the senior population in Lancaster County Nebraska. As a tax-exempt charitable organization, we seek contributions and then deploy those in form of financial support to various programs and projects through the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging (LAAA).

History

When first formed, in 1981, the Seniors Foundation had the specific purpose of providing financial support for senior centers. In recent years, in recognition of the growing need for programming and services for the rapidly increasing senior population, our purpose has broadened to encompass all forms of quality of life enhancements for seniors.

Local population projections

The leading edge of the baby boom population bubble is now beginning to retire. As this group continues to age it will have a tremendous impact on the size of the senior population.

In the year 2000, for example, Lancaster County had 33,727 residents over the age 65. By the year 2020, that number will double to more than 67,000 seniors. According to census projections, during this same time period, the 85 years of age and older population will nearly double.

LAAA Scope of Service

Annually, LAAA provides programs and services to more than 11,000 older adults and family members. Programs range from professional case management services to volunteer opportunities. To learn more about LAAA Enter Here >>

Community Response

Our community is going to need a major increase in the total resources devoted to senior services. But only a portion of the needed funding will be supplied by public budgets that are already stretched tight

Members of the Seniors Foundation Board of Directors invite you to help make Lincoln a better community for people of all ages.
