Lincoln Seniors Transportation Program Overview
Current Activities
Rides are currently being provided in Lincoln. Rides can be to anywhere within the City of Lincoln, except to the airport or to a medical appointment.
People seeking help with medical transportation should contact the Madonna Community Transportation Program at 483-9456.
How the Program Operates
- The program is based on "curb to curb" service.
- Riders must reside within the corporate city limits of Lincoln.
- Riders must be 65 years of age or older, ambulatory, and are able to anticipate personal needs, make and keep transportation appointments and do not present cognitive, behavioral, or personal issues that will make volunteer-provided transportation risky or difficult.
Each rider must be pre-registered. Registration is conducted, by a trained program volunteer (or staff member of the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging), with each rider at the “riders” personal residence.
Rides are provided by volunteers in their own personal vehicles. All drivers undergo criminal and motor vehicle background checks and participate in a "Behind the Wheel" evaluation with a certified driving instructor.
Call Deb Hynek. LSTP Program Coordinator at 441-6179 if you would like to learn more about rider qualifications and how you can enroll.
